Resident Assistance Program

The goal of The Highlands’ Resident Assistance Fund Program is to provide financial assistance to residents of The Highlands community.

Why a fund?

Unplanned events do occur.   Sudden illness, the death of a spouse, financial reversals, and/or increased costs may put a resident at unanticipated financial risk.  The Resident Assistance Fund Program is designed to help with partial payments that will enable a member of this community to continue to live with friends and neighbors.

A Board of Directors, comprised of residents plus one person from outside The Highlands community, administers the Fund.  Residents apply confidentially to the Board for assistance; a resident must have lived at The Highlands for at least four years.

You can help support The Highlands Resident Assistance Fund Program by:

  • Donating direct cash contributions
  • Making regular voluntary additions to your monthly fee
  • Assigning as an advance directive your rental security deposit to the Fund upon leaving The Highlands
  • Including the Fund as a bequest from your estate, included in your will
  • Naming the Fund as the recipient of memorials in your end-of-life planning
  • Giving a gift in gratitude or in memory of someone
  • Designating a portion of your share in the Estates cooperative when your share is sold

Many residents also become involved with activities and opportunities during the year to support the Fund.
