Easy Living in Midcoast Maine
At The Highlands, independent living is just that…. living as carefree as possible, without the burdens of housekeeping and maintenance. Life is easier with plenty of opportunities to do all those things that have been put off until later. Residents enjoy the freedom to take a class at nearby Bowdoin College or Midcoast Senior College; enjoy a performance at the Maine State Music Theatre; take a water aerobics class in our heated indoor pool; volunteer at the Topsham Public Library; take a hike on one of the many trails right on campus or across the way at The Cathance River Preserve and Ecology Center; play a round of golf at the nearby Highland Green Golf Course, or simply get together with friends for a bridge game. The Highlands is a community whose residents demonstrate strong neighborly values and enjoy endless possibilities each and every day, without the burdens of home maintenance.
Residents have access to our wide range of fitness programs, including a variety of classes in the gym and Aqua fitness classes in our indoor heated swimming pool. Take a Tai Chi class, play ping pong with a neighbor or friend, shoot a round of pool, or play bridge with our card lovers. Try your skill at bowling or reserve a tee time for a round of golf. Do a little putting in the putting green for practice and fun!
The naturally wooded 75 acre campus also includes several trails that are designed to be perfect for a walk in the spring, summer or fall and for snow-shoeing in the winter.
Our concierge transportation service is available for trips to shopping, the symphony, local concerts, lectures, and other area events. Bath Savings Institution, a local full service community bank, is right on campus, along with a convenient full-service hair salon including manicure and pedicure pampering as well.
