Maine State Music Theatre

The summer of 2011 marks the 21st year for The Highlands as the Season Sponsor of Maine State Music Theatre. Highlands’ owner John Wasileski recognizes the vital role Maine State Music Theatre plays in the community. This is true summer stock of the highest caliber, with performers who already have Broadway productions on their resumes. Performed in Pickard Theater on the campus of Bowdoin College, many of the shows are sold out, with tickets always a sought-after prize.

Because The Highlands is the season sponsor, an annual gala luncheon is held right here on campus in June. Cast members from the current production perform not only numbers from the show, but also some from the upcoming attractions.

Members of the Maine State Music Theatre organization and productions tend to keep coming back, summer after summer. They become a part of The Highlands community, and are welcomed back warmly each time. At the same time, many of the residents have been season ticket holders for years. They never have to worry about parking, because they know they’ll be riding over with their friends in The Highlands’ van. They also know summer in Midcoast Maine is officially here when the overture from the season’s first production is played.
